my wife got me a lab for x-mas and im trying to find out whats he best way to train him and also if there is a dog trainer in kansas..to help me train him

Jackie Mertens "Sound Beginings" will get show you what to do for the first 3-4 months. I would join a local AKC club and start training with them, as well start asking around about trainers in your area. Go out to the trainers and watch them train and see who you like.

I would look for a UKC hunting retreiver club you can find their web at huntingretrieverclub.org if it wasn't for this type of club I wouldn't have the dogs I have today. their motto is "Concieved for Hunters by Hunters" you can't train a dog by yourself.
