Texastracker,
yes i did hunt ft hood last year. I shot a spike at the end of the season, can't say that i was to impressed with the way the season went. However, I turkey hunted this spring and covered a lot of ground. Now that I know more about the area I think I will have more luck this deer season. Turkey season was a great this year, I called one for my 12 year old son and he shot his first turkey, made the whole year. Best of all I can hunt all year for under $100<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>

Anthony, welcome aboard and congratulations to your son on his first bird. I hunt my in-laws place in Ft. Gates, bordering Ft. Hood on the Leon River. Good thing about the Ft. Hood area is that the deer aren't gun shy.

I live about 45 minutes north of Austin, a little town called Jarrell. I hunt about 5 miles outside of town. I have a wife and an English Bulldog. I would make fun of you guys for being real estate agents, but I am a computer programmer who works for a real estate company - Keller Williams International. I work at the international office that is based in Austin.
Pablo - my wife is from the area(Pleasontan)- there are some nice deer in that area.

Hey Gone_Huntin, nice to have you aboard. It has been said many of time but we have a dang good bunch of guy and gals over here so stick around. You mentioned that you are from Jarrell, Texas. I remember that tragic day a few years back when that F-5 tornado came rolling through there leaving a path of destruction. Were you living in Jarrell when this happened? Again, nice to have you aboard.

I grew up in Jarrell, but was working in Dallas at the time. The destruction was amazing, I had a hard time getting my bearings while I was cleaning up and I have lived there most of my 29 years.

I live east of Austin and work as a Quality Engineer for a company called Applied Materials. Been married a the wonderful Karen for 9 years now and we have a great daughter named Katie who is 7 going on 25. Karen likes to hunt as well which really makes it easy for me to spend time and money on it! I am lucky enough to have two private properties in the Hill Country near Fredricksburg to hunt whitetail on this year and am really looking forward to it!
