Can' t hunt on Sundays?
#1
Bummer......I have heard there are a few other states that don' t allow hunting on Sundays. I think it' s something to do with that states " Blue Law" . Fortunately that is not the case here in Arkansas, but I can remember when I was a kid that stores were not allowed to be open here on Sundays because of that law.

This will be my first year hunting in the state of Virginia and I just noticed this little snippet under " Unlawful Methods" in the VA Hunting Regulations -
" Hunt wild birds and wild animals with firearms or other weapons on Sunday, except on licensed shooting preserves. Raccoon hunters may hunt until 2:00 a.m. Sunday mornings"
I didn' t know such a thing existed. Anyone else heard of this or am I reading this incorrectly? You can' t deer hunt on Sundays in Virginia?
Thanks for any light you can shed on this...

You read that correctly. I have hunted in Va all my life and you are not allowed to hunt on Sundays. They have talked about changing that but all I have ever heard is talk no action. I was talking with some friends about getting a petion signed by as many people as possible and going to the VA Dept of Game and Inland Fish and seeing if we cant help them do more than talk about changing it!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I' m anxiously looking forward to muzzleloading season to start (Nov 8th, West of the Blue Ridge). Another thing that caught me odd was muzzleloading season is buck only except for Nov 10th, and regular gun season is either sex the entire season. It' s just the opposite in Tennessee. Usually either sex during muzzleloading season and buck only during gun season. The county I hunted in also had a hunting season that coincided with the state hunting season and it allowed does only. So it was really either-sex but you just had to check it in under county instead of state if you tagged a doe.
Thanks again!
