I have been in contact with Sen. Marsden a couple of times on this issue and he is in favor of Sunday hunting. Very nice person to speak with. |
What needs to be done is to get on the speaker of the House to find out why the ACNR committee seems to think they know better than over 60% of those surveyed on this issue. 4 Republicans held up the removal of the unconstitutional ban on everyone being allowed to hunt on Sundays. Several specialty groups are allowed to hunt on Sunday but not the general populations. Blatant discrimination and violation of the seperation of church and state rulings. Time to let House Speaker Powell know what the rest of the country thinks on this issue. He keeps dodging it by blaming others. After all he is the Speaker and he should be in charge
|
Very few except the politicians who are sportsmen/women care about the ACNR as apparent from their yearly siphoning/pilfering of the money we(DNR) produce to other programs "more in need". This happens every year. We will have Sunday Hunting eventually. Maybe not next year or the following year. Eventually the reality of politicians needing votes to get re-elected will supersede their political agendas/views.
|
Obama needs four more years
And do Virginia and the country real good. And hunting might be the least of your problems.
|
George Allen has accepted the backing of anti Sunday Hunting lobbyist Kirby Burch and VaHDA chairman Jim Hackett. Anyone who follows this issue should know them both and their stand to keep the ban but want to expand Sunday chase with dogs. Sorry Mr Allen you do not get my vote this time. They are behind the Hunters for Allen group. Republicans are losing the support of many hunters in Va. That doesn 't mean support gor Democrats though.

As much as I want Sunday Hunting I will vote for Allen over Kane...Kane is a BIG liberal...we will just have to put pressure on Allen when he gets elected to pass Sunday Hunting...this election is about MORE then hunting.....it's about America and ALL your RIGHTS and LIBERTIES. :patriot:

Allen is saying that it is a state issue and not a federal one. He seems to be trying to straddle both sides of the fence by taking money from those against removing the ban. I agree I will not vote for Kaine but I will also not support or vote for Allen. The leadership of the Republican party in Virginia is trying to stay out of this fight. Time to make them aware or what can happen if they do not get totally behind this issue one way or the other. I feel they are asking for our votes to get elected so they can say no to removal of the ban. That, to me, is wrong and I will use this year to hold them accountable each and every way I can. After all it would only take one vote change to get this to the General Assembly for once. Just one vote. And that can be determined by the Republican leadership.
By the way once Allen is elected he will stay far away from this issue . |
vapahunter.....I understand what your saying and how you feel....but if you don't vote for Allen you might as well vote for Kane.....and Kane iS NO FRIEND to anyone who owns an gun of any kind ......and if he's ANTI-GUN ..... He's ANTI- HUNTING.....we will ALL have to put pressure on EVERYBODY involved with the decision making on Sunday Hunting to get them to vote YES.....
|
I want Sunday hunting as much as anyone here, but I am voting against Kaine. Not only is Tim Kaine your typical ignorant gun-hating liberal, he is a vocal supporter of nearly everything Obummer has done including backdoor cap and trade and backdoor amnesty.
Any gun owner who doesn't go out and vote against Tim Kaine isn't worth their weight in salt, IMO, and has no standing to complain when the anti-gun, anti-hunting liberals start ramming things down our throat. Right now there is at least a 49% chance of Obummer getting re-elected, and we need to do everything in our power to make sure the Congress is conservative. A second-term Obama with a liberal congress is a nightmare for gun owners, hunters, and the middle class in general. |
Good post Stonewall....obama and a liberal congress won't be a nightmare.....it will be the END of YOUR FREEDOMS... YOUR RIGHTS....YOUR LIBERTIES and the END America as we know it....

However, the only way to change this arcane law is to made your voice heard. I have written letters, sent emails, and place numerous phone calls to my law makers. It has all fallen on deaf ears for the past three years. This is the year, I change my party and vote against Allen and will vote Kaine. If a few of these knuckleheads get voted out of office, maybe some of the others will get off their arse and take this seriously. I work 5-6 days a week and the Sunday ban dramatically affects one of the passions of my life. |

The article I wrote never said "vote Democrat" and I specifically added in "local" to the politics. Allen and Kaine are running for federal office and they have no effective impact on Sunday hunting. Other than they can go to Delegate Ware and say "What the heck are you doing that I'm loosing votes and support for a federal office ticket." Locally elected Republicans are the reason we Virginians don't have the freedom to choose what we do on our own property on Sunday. Absolutely they need to hear that they aren't standing for Republican values. I do not plan on voting for a Democrat for national elections, but I'm certainly not going to support State Republicans. In fact we should be letting every hunter we can know that Republicans are actively restricting hunter access to the woods. They are no friend to the hunter. |
What you guys need to wake up and realize is that your old Democratic part is gone.
These days Democrats believe that terrorists should be give civilian trials and constitutional rights, despite the fact that there is absolutely no legal basis to give such rights to non-citizens captured in a foreign war zone. They have waged a silent war on gun ownership since 2000 when Al Gore said gun control cost him the election, so now they try to reach the same ends with less noticable manuevers. The have an emphatic religious-like belief that marginal tax rates must always go up, based on an intolerance of individual success that is reminiscent of communism; democrats mention hiking tax rates in nearly every single speech or interview they give, and Obummer has said that he would raise tax rates even if it causes tax revenue to go down. Democrats have passed regulation requiring every woman, regardless of her religious beliefs, to pay for abortion-inducing pills through her health insurance premiums. And it is the Democrats who, behind closed doors, refer to people like us as ignorant hillbillies "clinging to their guns or religion." I don't care if it is state or federal, there is simply no such thing as an old-style Democrat anymore. Saying that you are going to vote for a Democrat because Republicans are not sufficiently pro-gun is like moving to Alaska because Virginia is not sufficiently warm. |
A vote for kane ...obama or any other dem is a vote against ALL YOUR FREEDOMS....they are ALL ANTI GUN......please wake up before November and before it's TO LATE....
Remember that old saying...... Watch what you wish for...because you just might get it.. |
But also remember that it is the Republicans that are restricting your rights as stated by the state constitution. They are saying you have the RIGHT to hunt but only on certain days. What other right is there in that is restricted to certain days of the week.
My vote is my own and trying to intimidate me is like peeing on a tree and hoping it will grow. Waste of time. But you are entitled to your opinion as I am. The only way this ban is going to get changed is if ALL elected Republicans feel the pressure. That is not happening right now and that is why the ban remains. Allen and Howell deny it is their problem. The governor and AG think it is a minor annoyance. Make it their problem and it will be removed. How you vote is your private matter. Who you support is your business. Whether the ban gets removed is the business of all who hunt. We need to use every tool in the arsenal. |

Do you expect or think Tim Kaine will stand up for gun owners? You can surely vote for who you want as that is your right. However, you need to research what Kaine has stood for in the past and what he stands for now. He is no friend of gun owners or hunters.

And the ban will remain as many will not hold those in charge responsble for the actions of other Republicans. Enjoy watching your football games each Sunday while those who work the system are out hunting. I guess the NFL will benefit from all who can not hunt in Va for many years to come. Enjoy it.

What we as hunters need to do is identify the members of our state legislature that need replacing and we need to work together. As I said earlier, if you choose to vote for Kaine that is certainly your right but please research his views. He is a "rubber stamp" for Obama and his policies. |
I know exactly what his views are. I know exactly what Republicans have done for hunterson this issue. Enjoy your football games for the next couple of years.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. BTW, what did Kaine do for Sunday hunting when he was Governor? Whether it's Allen or Kaine, I'm not expecting either one to make a difference on Sunday hunting in VA. |
Kaine did nothing for Sunday Hunting but had no support by hunters. Republicans killed Sunday Hunting and say they support hunting so many vote for them. So who has done the the most to curtail hunring? It is easy yet the support continues. 4 Republicans vote to kill the bill to remove the ban each year every year. How many Democrats do in that committee. Enjoy the games courtesy of the GOP.

BTW, there was a movement to lift the ban when Kaine was running for Governor. Both Kaine and Kilgore claimed they supported lifting the ban in 2005. http://www.roanoke.com/outdoors/bill...field/wb/37289 |
VAhuntr....your not gonna changes the minds of these guys.....no hunter would vote for Kane knowing that he's just like obama ...against your 2nd amendment rights ......they must like higher taxes....higher gas prices ......more entitlements...and less freedom......i don't think they are republicans....I think they are liberals.....and your right...go after the people on the committees that VOTED NO......I'm all for that....but when it comes to national politics I will vote for the good of the country.....

I just sent this to George Allen because of my disappointment in him standing with those who fight to restrict my access to the hunting woods.
If you want to email Senate Candidate Allen you can do so here: [email protected] He needs to hear from those of us who support SH, word has made it to me that he didn't have a clue as to the full picture of who he was standing on the stage with. "I just wanted to express my displeasure that you chose to stand with Kirby Burch and the Virginia Hunting Dog Alliance at the “Sportsmen for Allen” rally at Green Top Sporting Goods in Glen Allen, VA. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...6621704&type=3 The Virginia Hunting Dog Alliance is not an organization that represents sportsmen in Virginia and in fact is causing a very large rift in the hunting community by continually fighting to restrict hunter access to the woods on Sunday. I will not vote for a Democrat for the state senate seat because I am a Republican. However, I will not vote for you to be in the seat either because you have put on public display a lack of support for the hunting community as a whole by aligning yourself with a group that opposes hunter access to the woods. Hunting is my favorite past time and is a critical matter in my voting considerations. You should choose more wisely when stumping as a friend to Virginia’s sportsmen." |
Hey, VaPaHunter, what would you say if someone told you that they were going to vote for Democrats because Republicans hadn't lowered their taxes enough? Democrats are the party of tax hikes and gun banning. Voting for a Democrat because you want more hunting rights is just like voting for a democrat because you want lower taxes.
|
I just sent Allen an email with a simple question....
Where do you stand on Sunday Hunting....Are you for it or against it...????? I will let everyone know his answer if and when he replies..... |

They will not change their vote. Not as long as there is no pressure from the State Republican leadership. Make the leadership feel the pressure and you will see the ban removed. Otherwise, like I keep saying, enjoy your Sunday NFL games on TV for many years to come.
