LITTLE ROCK — An Arkansas lawmaker proposes a reduction in the state’s hunting and fishing fees in what he calls a “sportsman stimulus.”
Sen. Terry Smith of Hot Springs filed a measure Monday that would cut hunting and fishing license fees to $1.50. The fees are now $10.50 for a basic hunting license and $25 for a sportsman hunting license, along with $10.50 for a fishing license.
Some lawmakers are pushing for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to share with other state agencies the $30 million it received for leasing wildlife areas for natural gas drilling.
Monday is the deadline for lawmakers to file bills for this year’s session.
