My experience with deer dog hunting is Louisiana where every large tract of land leased to run dogs often ends up with plenty of illegal deer stands and drivers on it.No dog hunting in Ohio or Illinois where I currently do most of my hunting, but you still get complaints about dogs. Much of the time it issomeonescreaming bloody murder if they hear a beagle chasing a rabbit a mile away. Of course you occasionally do get acase of dogs running past a stand (just clears the deer out for miles LOL), but much of the time someone is just crying wolf because they dont like the idea of anyone or anything being within miles of them.

Lanse, that may bethe case in OH but not here in Va! After 30+ years of still hunting all over the state I can count the number of tresspassers I have encountered on one hand. The number of incidents where deer hounds running out of season or on posted land messing up my hunt are too many to count, and I mean too many tocount in just one year.

If you hunt with dogs.. Fine. Keep them on your own property. If I see you on my property you will be proving to the GW you were on my property to look for your waywerd dogs. You dont have the right to stomp thru my property spreding your scent around willy nilly because you cant controle your dogs....... nuf said

Well, if a lot of folks would keep their stands on their own property, then there would be much less problems with tresspass. And that's nationwide, not just in some areas[:@]

And you can bet that you will get at least two more threads like this with pretty much the same crowd saying pretty much the same thing before hunting season rolls around.

I wish the best for everyone, dog hunter or not. I know many of you are steeped in tradition and that is what makes hunting/family so special for all of us. Respect can and has to be the bridge that links us all together so that we can all enjoy the hunt for lifetimes to come.
