I saw one get shot with a crossbow that no true bowhunter would EVER take. I think there needs to be a season for them or go back to the way it was, Medical permission.

I've seen a lot of small bucks and a ton of doe & fawns so far. Just not a shooter yet. I'll be out again Friday in Clifton.

I went out today after work again. Within 40 minutes I watched 2 small bucks a spike and a little 4 sparring a bitand rubbing some trees. Then came along 2 small does off to my left about 60 yards. Its the one I didnt see that got me. About 30 mins left of light I stood up in the stand. For whatever reason I didnt scan around me like I always do before moving. Sure enough the one time I have a brainfart and I hear the dreaded blow of a deer in alert mode. At that moment I just dropped my head. so I turned to see anice doe one you take to securesome early season meat. She was still out of range but who knows if I hadnt goofed upmaybe she would have presented a shot maybe not. Oh well it happens. Good luck Everyone this weekend. Temps are going to drop fri and sat should be a productive weekend!

Opening day was a washout for me...that nor'easter was kicking up some major winds and dumping buckets of rain in my area. I hunt adjacent to a swamp and the water/mud levels were about 4' higher than normal. I took this past week off from work and hunted every day, and got a doe my first day out (Monday night). My buddy got one that night as well, then took 2 more on Sat. morning. I missed one on Friday morning due to a poor judgement in distance, and had another walk under me Thursday morning and into some thick stuff before I could get a shot off. Looking good so far this year.
