RE: Caliber and Rifle Advice?
I was in your boat a few years ago. I finally bought a 223, because it is cheaper to shoot than the 22-250. The 22-250 is one screaming caliber though. Even so its hard to justify because w/ it you use as much powder as the 243/6mm's and nearly as much as the 25-06, you may save a few cents per bullet, but thats it. Powder, brass, primers will be the same. ALL of wich will out perform the 22-250 when loaded w/ light for caliber bullets(60-85gr). plus you can get heavier bullets (85-100+gr)and use them on deer. the 22-250 performs great on varmits, but thats ALL its good for, the others perfrom just as well and can be used both ways at the same cost. I have a 223 and a 6mm Rem.

...have NOT had good result with accelerators. Have shot them in 30-06 and 30-30. Can't report on accuracy...there wasn't any.

I found myself in the same position, like thousands of otherr people. I eventually went with the .22-250 because i tend to stick to the moto "Bigger is Better". I mainly shoot gophers i like to get the bang, splat type deal going. I've shot many a .223 and can say that i'm glad i went with the .22-250, not one regret yet.
Keep in mind that the .22-250 has a flatter trajectory and will buck the wind better due to its flatter trajectory. I've shot in gail force winds (extremely windy anyways) and have only had to hold very slightly of the target to hit them.
Drops yotes like no tomorow. They fall and never twitch.

why don't you ask that truck load of deer I've killed over the last 30 years what a 22-250 is good for... I don't know where you're getting your info but if it was me I'd start looking else where as what you're getting now aint worth the time it takes to type it...

A 22-250 loaded with a 60-70 grain bullet, is a excellent deer killer.
