There's several Hunters that Coyote Hunt with the .17 HMR and seem to do well with it and now that the new .17 Hornet is out that seems to be another popular round used for Predator Hunting also!
I'm with TopGun on using a bigger Caliber so You don't loose any Coyotes and it's still easy on their Fur/Hides.Heres a list of Calibers that would be good to use also!
.17 Fireball
.22 Magnum
.22 Hornet
.20 VarTarg
.204
.218 Bee
.220
.221
.222
.223
.243

I was trying to think of as many Fur Friendly Calibers Sheridan....the .243 might be a little too much unless You use a lighter ballistic tip bullet?
Yes....most Hunters will use whatever they have available and I'm just as Guilty...if its Deer Season and a Coyote comes thru chasing or following Deer the 7mm-08,30-06 or .243 will do just find in a pinch!

GTO,
I use Hornady V-max bullets for predators.
40gr in .204 Bolt gun
55gr in .223 AR
75gr in .243 Bolt gun
I have a .17HMR and a .22LR, but those are for killing ground squirrels and other smaller critters.

agreed. its the shooters responsibility to use a round that is capable of a quick, clean kill. .17HMR and .22LR's don't belong in this category with coyotes.
