Who to talk to about selling coyote pelts?
#1
I' m getting the itch to try out coyote calling, but I' m reluctant to shoot an animal without putting it to some use. I would like to sell any pelts that I get, but I have absolutely no clue who to talk to to find a buyer. I was wondering if any of you would know where/who I might ask to locate a fur buyer so I have someone lined up before I hunt.
Thanks,
Mike

Ya might contact some of your local taxidermist. I sell several coyotes a year to a taxidermist. You could also learn how to skin them yourself, then you can freeze the hide and ship them for a small amount to fur buyers. I would think that there are a few fur buyers in Iowa some where, again taxidermist might be able to help ya there too. Of course the pelts won' t be worth any thing until winter.

There' s a few things you can do to sell your furs. First contact the IowaTrappers assoc. and find out through them if there is any fur buyers around your area. Second you can contact the DNR office in your area, and ask them where any fur buyers are in your area. Also look in the phone book under fur buyers. Fur buyers are out there you just need to know where to look. I wish you a lot of luck hunting this year.
