I've heard of some folks catching snapping turtles in 330 Conibear traps set underwater for beaver, but never heard of catching a turtle in a foothold. But i guess it couldhappen from time to timeif you are trapping during fairly warm weatherwhen turtles are still active and looking for food, especially if you are doing baited pocket sets on the edge of a creek or pond.

I have never caught them in a trap but I could see it very likely if you have bait that they can eat.I have saw them out in feilds traveling from one creek or pond to another.

funny story, one time i cought a rabbit in a snare set up for squirrel, i had a log set up against a tree due to the fact that squirrels much like humans and many other animals are lazy and would rather climb a slope than straight up, with asorted snares lining the log worked like a charm but one day i walked out and there was a rabbit hanging about an inch off the ground, my only guess is maybe he was running from something and jumped into it?

A 50 pound snapping turtle? Lots of folks would find that more valuable than a coon since some folks pay 5 to 7 bucks a pound for turtle meat.

Man I love snapping turtle! When I was a teenager I got $25 per live turtle. Had to be cleaning size and on up, but the guy paid me cash everytime.
