Default Turtles?

A local pond has alot I mean Alot of turtles and big ones too!
Stole a 1-1/2 lbs. Crappie off the stringer after a tug of war w/
my 8yr old son.
Anyhow there is so many it appears some my need to be removed. How do I catch these critters?

From reading your signature and not let them go to waste I'll tell you. If your talking about a hard shell turtle it may be a red-ear or a chicken turtle. If your familar with a crab pod construct on simular but open the openings up a little bit to get the turtle in and then they can't get out. The trap has to be sticking out of the water a few inches to keep the turtle alive. A tuna fish can or dog food works good for cheap bait, just puncture a bunch of holes in the can and come back the next day and you'll find your share of turtles and some catfish as well. Good luck.

If they are snappers, I use tobacco sticks, twine and a big hook. Tie the twine to the stick about 5-10 feet long. Tie a good strong hook baited with chicken gizzards (I've found that fish wont mess with gizzards) to the other end. Nail the tobacco sticks in the edge of the pond and toss the bait into the water. Check in a day or two. I had turtle for supper last night :-)

if its a mud turtle, then you might have to take the sit back and wait approach and shoot them with a gun, or when you got fish on a stringer and one tries to take off with it try to tug it in and shoot it, thats the only way i have ever killed one

We do the same thing or use or pellet guns. The turtles can take over a pond so can the water snakes.
