I am thinking about buying a Cabelas electic caller for 140 bucks. We already have one buts its my stepdads and i want my own so i don't have to worrie about him having to be home soi can ask. I have read on making my own but i don't think they sound quite as clear as one you can buy. Also i want it to travel far cause i will be calling crows as well as cyotes. I guess i can make one for around 40, so is the ones pro built worth 100 more??????

For me, I'd spend my money else where, unless I was going to call crows more often. The electronic callers do seem to work better for crows, but I'll stick with the hand calls for coyotes.Hand calls weigh less, are easier to turn on and off, this lets a guy control, or call to the coyote, when it may need a bit more coaxing, and hand calls can't run out of battery power, or eat cassettes. But for calling crows, they are hard to beat!Just my opinion, but I do lots of walking,

I have an electronic caller as well as hand calls and I have as much luck with the hand calls as I do with electronic call for coyotes. Whether you buy one or not would probably depend on how much you plan to use it for crows and how much for coyotes. If I was mainly using it for crows it would probably be worth it but for coyotes hand calls work just as well.

They are phenominal for crows, I can tell you that first hand. I have had some luck using them for predators. I hear mixed feelings on using them for predators. They do work, but any good game caller will tell you that a mouth call will work better on any dog.
