I was out doe deer hunting and happened to see this fox mousing along the end of a hay field I was watching. He made his way towards me then he turned and started down towards the river in a deep ravine. He stopped and looked right a me right before he went out of sight and I dumped him with my 7-30 Contender handgun.

So here's a fox for team #4

I'll double check, but I beleive the last day of March is the date we decided on for the end of this contest.
While I was in KS. for the last 10 days, I got an couple opportunities to contribute to my teams score. Got one of these while he was chasing pheasants in the field that we were harvesting. Got the other on a calling stand.

Here's the one I called in.

I'll get everyone's score caught up today, looks like I got some catching up to do.

Those are some great pic's Howler. Congrats on your kills.

What kind of AR and scope are you shooting?

Howler 11-05-2007 03:22 PM

RE: 07 Predator contest submission pics.

Thanks wyote! Gotta love the wide open spaces we get to hunt! My AR was built by Dedicated Technology on top of a DPMS lower. It has a 23" Shilen barrel with DTech added compensator. DTech crown and flute job. .204 cal. and I'm currently using 40 gr. berger bullets on top of my reloads. That's a Leopold scope 4.5-14 on top. Obviously all dipped to match. The grip is a rubber Ergo grip.

Not a pic.... but will you count it? I'm not dragging some of these critters back to the truck- between the flattness of fur and furiousity of the 25WSSM they aren't worth skinning. If they don't make it to the truck they don't get pictures. Sorry?

PS: I have a non-digital picture of two from Monday that I'm trying to get scanned in. We're having a heckuva time remember to take pics lately- my apologies to the team.

Jrbhunter 11-06-2007 12:33 PM

RE: 07 Predator contest submission pics.

Here is that pitiful picture of the two I killed Sunday Night / Monday Morning.

I also noticed that after I submitted the picture of three coyotes hanging beside me, I was scored for 100 points. Is that a mistake, or are coyotes worth 33.3333 points?

My total should now be 6 coyotes killed and photographed. I'll start at least taking pics with my cell phone!

Nope, my mistake, nice catch!! I gave ya credit for the coyote in your video also, BUT I have to question the "first round down the barrel comment". You mean to tell me that you didn't shoot that rifle any to sight it in before hunting with it? Come on now, surely you put a few down the barrel for sight in![8D]

RE: 07 Predator contest submission pics.

".... just got it put together tonight and lined it in. Got it shooting pretty good, brought it out here and the first round down the barrel put fur on the ground...."

Yeah it actually had 10 rounds through it on the range. Locked it in the lead sled and found that we were within 2 inches from the start. I believe the 11th, 15th, 16th, 18th and 19th rounds fired through this weapon have killed coyotes. #20 is in the tube, my cameraman is on the way and we won't be home until daylight. Hopes are high- it's a beautiful night.

#20 and #21 did their job last night. Gotta get a picture of the other one put on here when she gets home to explain her camera!

I'll get two more added for Jrb. I'd rather ya just post pics. Jrb, so I don't have to watch your next 100 video clips!;)

Here's another.

I only post videos that don't make the cut because of quality issues.... one in ten are worthless for my video projects so I share them online. Pictures are a pain in the butt... maybe I'll start pulling frame grabs for ya. Either way, there are more to come.

RE: 07 Predator contest submission pics.

Sunday's kills. I initally started out the morning wanting to shoot a coyote with the .50 BMG. Not having a bi-pod mount for it made it very difficult. I called in one that came it to about 75 yards, but when trying to shoot off of a bag, the tall grass made it difficult. Ended up calling in 6 to that set, but only the one came in close enough for a good shot. The other 5 followed the first one when it took off. Luckily I was able to scratch up another two later on.

Howler 11-13-2007 07:17 AM

RE: 07 Predator contest submission pics.

If that .50 BMG weighs what the one I shot weighed, 36#'s, I can't imagine walking very far with it to go callin'! All those coyotes down there, and you want to come up here!:DI'd be embarrased with the few and far in between coyote numbers around these parts.
I'll get your points added. Keep the pressure on, JRB is rollin' pretty good now.

#40Fan 11-13-2007 06:39 PM

RE: 07 Predator contest submission pics.

There was two of us to help carry the .50. So that helped make walking 600 yards into a set pretty easy.

Howler, ever heard of Red-Top south of Pueblo? Not sure if that is how it is spelled or not. Supposed to be some good shooting down that way as well. I never did make it south of La Junta to see what it was like.

Nah, haven't heard of it. Ya wanna go check it out this weekend. I'll drive! Was going to do some more archery mulie hunting, but the ranch that I hunt hasn't seen any big bucks lately, so I'm going to hold off on that.

We could do that. I have a date with the wife Saturday morning. Going to take her out for some coyote calling. Sunday is wide open. Let me know if that will work for you.

Sorry to hear of your loss HighDesert, hope the lord gives your family strength to carry on with her memory in your heart.

Rammer, it's still early and I'm not too worried about ya, "keeping up" in the long run! Hopefully #40 and I slay about 5 more each this weekend!:)I'll be going out all 3 of the next 3 days.[8D]

Got this one from one of my favorite spots. I like sitting in the rocks behind the rifle, and it's a wide open view. I watched this one come from about 600 yards out.

Way to go Howler!

In about 3 weeks I'm going to start calling heavy. Rifle deer season opens here in the AM, and that really messes with the calling. Pheasant hunting doesn't help the situation either. Once all the regular seasons close, I'll be starting up. I'm getting pumped!
