My new .17hmr got its first kills...
Finally got to get out this weekend for some groundhog hunting in PA. After missing one groundhog at like 50 yards, I got these 2 right in a row. I shot the one and found the gun was shooting a little high.....next one didn't have a chance....i love when I get two quick kills in a row. The best part is that I can tell if I got them or not by the sound of hit. I then went back to the spot where I missed the one at 50 yards and he was back out. Only problem was that I was 250 yards away. From the prone position, I aimed about 8 inches over the hogs head (sighted in 1.5 high at 50 yards) and I nailed him. That was my furthest shot with .17 at a groundhog. I was walking up to get that one and another popped out of his hole at like 10 yards.....he was toast as well......good start to the season

Congrats, its an addicting little toy. I have only used my .22 for muskrats since i picked my 17up about 3-4 years ago. I took a nice coon 3 days ago eating at our bird feeder. I took lungs and he never took more than 2 steps. Nasty lil pill, i just can't wait till the ice comes off here then its beaver time, thats where the 17 really shines and out performs anything i have ever seen b4. Was designed for a gopher gun but in my books it is the #1 beaver tool.
