Well i can't say i trapped or got my first coon with a gun or bow. I accidently hit it with my car on the way back through Texas. It did some pretty bad damage to my car. Dented the lower shield, took off my license plate and bend the heck out of the brace for it. I took some pictures of the damage so i can get it fixed eventually. I don't have a scanner so can't show that. As for is a coon with it? not if you hit it with you car [&:]

As jrbhunter said, it depends why your trapping. If its for money, there are alot quicker ways with less time to get a return. If its for enjoyment....why not.We thin them out or distemper, rabbies, etc... will do it. They are key players as predators. Coons will kill muskrats (including digging dens to kill and eat the kits), mink, birds, eat waterfowl eggs, etc... and become prevelent rabies vectors when over populated. They are more work than most furbearers and have less value too, but they have some value and keeping the population in check benefits them and us.
