This summer I kind of want to get into Coyote hunting. Im gona be working on my Grandpas/Uncles Farm ( its one of the largest in Kansas). I have taken 2 coyotes before while pheasant hunting with a shotgun but i kind of want to call one in. Should i used a mouth call or a tape. what is a good gun that i can hunt both prarie dogs sometimes and shoot a coyote within 100 yds, are 12 ga. slugs to big. any suggestions would help. Thanks

i would use a hand call. It is good to learn how to use them because you canget sounds out of them that a standard tape wont produce. Also if you do go to a tape/digital way of calling its good to know how to use a hand call incase the tape or digital ever goes out in the field.
I would get just two calls starting out. Get a howler and a rabbit distress call. I like the Randy Anderson signiture sieries calls made by primos myself, but look around at what fits you best. I know that primos makes a mastering the art series on video and DvD that come with some calls. It shows you how to use them, and runs through the basics of coyote hunting.
A shotgun works fine on yote, but if you want a rifle look at a 22-250 for what you want.
i know that other people will chime in with some great advice!!!
