Ive had great luck with the Lohmans! the way I use it is 1 long blow followed by three shorts! mine dont work all the time its a baby squireel disstress! it works best during early to late spring and early to late fall when young squirrels are out! and it works best on the younger not so wise ones! I have used this call for 4 years now my dad and I are avid squirrel hunters. in the southern states start using it about mid march. Also you cant stand there in a white shirt with squirrels watching you and make it work! Ive had it not work but when it does its awsome! they will loose fear and come as close as 10 yds barking and have had them come from as far as 100 yds tree to tree. take it to a local park full of tamer squirrels and practice rite time of year and the park will come alive!
I have been on other forums and had people say its junk dont work! not true! like a varmint call its not going to produce till you get good by practice! it wont work if you cant make it work! Mine did not produce so I bought a video from lohman and practiced my ass of! and if its a babby dissterss do you think it will be real productive if theres no babby squirrels!
duh! I also have a crow call and none would come none would come THEN FINALY I HAD SOME COME! it wasnt the call not working it was the person behind the call!

I think it actually has to do with the "personality" of the squirrel. I would try a variety of calls and see which one works best in ur area.
