i have a Remington 22-250 model 700 vls. I currently have a Leupold vari-x II 3-9 and will soon be upgrading to a scope with atleast 14 power. the 3-9 was nice at first but shots out pass 300 yards the 3-9 just doesnt give you the accuracy.

Well after doing a little more research on scopes I have found many people like the swift scopes. Also last week I went to a local gunshop that sells them and found a nice 4-12x50mm for $180 and it has over the counter warranty which is a nice piece of mind. I looked through it along with the 6-24x50mm and they seem like they have great optics.

For coyote hunting would the 4-12x50mm be enough? I won't be varmint hunting because around here most of the prairie dogs have been poisoned out (sux for me). Another reason I may go with the 4-12 is it is lighter, shorter and no adjustable objective.

Opinions?

I have a weaver V16 on my 22-250. it's a very good scope but I'm going to replace it just because I have money burning a hole in my pocket! I also have a Nikon monarch 4-12 that Is a little better as far as brightness and focus. I don't agree with all the deer hunter opinionsI would hate to use a 3-9 on a small varmint at 300 yds Yes I know it can be done but it is so much nicer to shoot a squirrel at 300 thru a 16 or 20 power. I just wasn't satisfied with a buck master or fullfield not saying there badI just always go middle of the road. The weaver V seriesis a very good scope mine is four YO and no problems and is way under 400.00

i like the 6-24x power scopes for my varmint rifles. they work wonderful
