RE: Coyote Caliber ?????
I have an NEF bull barrel in .223, a Bushmaster AR15 in .223, and a Savage bolt .243. Between those 3 rifles, the Bushmaster is the most accurate with 1/2" groups at 100 yards.
So.........I vote for the 223!

Go with the 243. The 223 just isnt enough for most circumstances. The 22-250 wont do any less damage and it doesnt have the down range energy that the 243 has. The 243 in55-70grain varmint rounds shoot just as flat as equivilant 22 cal rounds and the 243 will put the coyote on the ground even with a bad hit.

I respect the 20 caliber realm of small predator taking. For me, I swear to my .308 with a 165 grain load with ballistic tip. I have taken coyote for some years now, and never had a problem with accuracy, knockdown, or range.....

I have a .243 but am thinking about getting a .204? I'm kinda surprised no one has mentioned this caliber as it has gotten great reviews. I have a friend that bought a CZ in this caliber and it is a ball to shoot!
Any thoughts?

any of the 22 caliber loads will do a yote in. but if your hunting in woods or where the shooting might be close, you might want to bring a shotgun too. i have an AR-15 that i plan on hunting yotes for here in upstate new york. but i plan on sighting in my turkey gun also for thoseclose and personal shots. range as you know is limited, but if you plan on using a decoy or remote call, place it away from you and set up at a 90 degree angle to the wind. the yote will see/hear and come in if he hasn't been called before. if he has or is just the cautious type he'll circle and try to wind whatever it is thats making all the noise. might be a good idea to get some fox piss or varmint piss to give them a scent to further make the situation real. good luck and hope you clean those pesky critters out

22-250 + 55-grain Nosler Ballistic Tips = Dead dogs out to 400-yards. Never underestimate the coyote's will to live. If you want bang-flop performance, the 22-250 is hard to beat. IMO, the .204 does not have the nuts to take tuff coyotes at longer ranges. Field reports prove this out. The .204 is a fun caliber but the 22-250 is all business and kills them NOW.
