Default Arizona Rabbit Hunting

Greetings all. Well next week I am going out on my first rabbit hunt in Arizona.

I am being told that rabbits are not safe to eat because of disease, etc. due to the desert heat. The general rule here is to hunt/eat rabbits in months with an "r" in them. Or not in: June, July, August...the hot months.

Anyway, when properly cooked, are desert Cottontails and Jacks safe to eat?

Thanks,
~Robert

Good question. Heh, i ate AZ rabbits in the summer, though not Jacks. I froze them first and then grilled them, I'm still alive! Congress AZ back in the day it was unbelievable for volume.
