RE: Traditional newbie!!

Get the Video / DVD "Hitting'em Like Howard Hill" by John Schulz.

It's the best instruction I've ever seen.

RE: Aggravated with hunting programs

Don't waste time being angry. There are so many things to be angry about, and commerce drives most of TV shows.

RE: Do recurves really need more spine?

I learned to finally not to regard the Aluminum arrow Manufacturer's charts as Gospel. Whether it is because they are designing arrows for compounds or the arrow speed is different, I now trust my...

RE: Carbon to Alluminum conversion

2018 has been for me, the "G0-TO" for general purposes. It's usually the fatter shafts and thicker-walled shafts in aluminum that can be recommended with too great a frequency. The 2018 usually...

RE: quiver or no quiver?

Some people like, or just don't mind bow-quivers. I'll admit they are very convenient, but I did not like them. It slowed my longbow noticeable.

With your 45# bow, I wouldn't think you would...

Alex:

I used to think about trying that, but never did. But I truly admire the examples of your work. That is very excellent craftsmanship! Are you actually going to hunt with them? What an...

RE: Check out my new bow

ArrowTip:

That is a beautiful horsebow! You going to stain it a light or dark?

You must have been deeply inspired by horse archery, which is one very powerful aspect of archery history. I...

RE: arrow weight

Wow! 2213's for a 50# bow? Sounds a bit of a stiffer and bigger arrow than necessary. For a 50# bow and your draw length, I really recommend you try a 2018 aluminum, and possibly lighter with a 2016.

RE: My shooting sucks!

In my experience, more archers, (including myself) tend to shoot a heavier draw weight than is necessary. I loved the power of drawing a 60# and higher bow, but....looking back, I would have probably...

Determining proper string length

I've found a good used longbow of 46# draw weight. No string with it. I'm looking for the method of determining string length for making your own strings. I've already got the string materials....

RE: Arrow selection for newbie recurve shooter..

For bows in the 45 - 55# range, I've never had trouble by going first to the aluminum 2018 arrow.
