RE: Old apple tree questions

The only bad thing about all fruit trees is that after a storm branches and such fall off, and this can be fatal to the deer(not sure why, I read it once, might have to look it up again to explain it...

RE: Hunting with Herding Dogs

She, the heeler, doesn't really point, she basically flushes the pheasants up(please give me an accurate definition of flushing, I am pretty sure I know what it is, but I might be wrong, she also...

RE: South Dakota Pheasants

I live in minnesota, so I have hunted both south and north dakota, and I think that ND has a lot more pheasants and better hunting then SD, SD's hunting has went downhill for quite a few years, while...

RE: diagram of a deer's eye

I know a deer farmer in my area that is going to be butchering a few yearlings(ate too much, now their hooves are growing too fast and he needs to trim them to keep the deer alive) so if you would...

RE: Question about a fawn?

Hopefully the deer farmer that picked up that fawn put it down, we don't want another CWD case like we had in NY blamed on the deer farmers. That deer farmer could easily have his/her permit taken...

RE: My 2 bucks (Pics)

I was going to say something about the smaller body mass, but them being southern deer kind of explains it, nice deer, I can only hope that a deer like that will come by me during bow hunting, Do you...

RE: antler restriction and genetics

I guess it may be near impossible to actually have a law against taking yearlings and 2nd year bucks, but we as hunters can control how trigger happy we get, and how trigger happy our party gets. If...

RE: Will this dog be worth the effort?

Do you think I will be able to do any sort of training during the first 2-3 months on the healing process? Right now he has had very little training, so he doesn't even know the basic whoa or sit...

RE: BUCK FORAGE OR SOMETHING ELSE?

Place the food plot toward the closest and most dense cover, if you have it in the middle of the field the deer wouldn't feel comfortable eating out there, and would rarely come to the center. Deer...

RE: antler restriction and genetics

I read a book about whitetails once that said a yearling buck has only reached 10% of its potential! It also said that a 2 year old has only reached 40% of its potential. The smaller younger bucks...

RE: Question about a fawn?

You should leave them lay for legal reasons also. Almost all states have some law against owning wild deer/ having them in captivity. Your best bet in finding out if it is illegal in your state is to...

RE: Hunting with Herding Dogs

I have been using a heeler for a couple of years now, she is just an old farm dog, but she can really kick up the pheasants, last season she even jumped up and caught 6 roosters throughout the...

RE: dogs vs coon

Your dog should be fine. I have a 8 year old blue heeler which has no problem when it comes to tangling with coons. In the past year she has killed 3 coons, 2 badgers, and a wood chuck( it was a 4...

Will this dog be worth the effort?

I just bought a GSP a few days ago and everything was going well. Then yesterday (Sunday, June 26) we were doing some farm work and we ran the dog over. His pelvic bone was cracked(little damage) and...
