it was an 8.5 inch beard, around 21 lbs, and 1/4 to 1/2 inch spurs. not bad for my first merriam

i'm not in the contest or anything but this is my first merriam gobbler i've shot. i've shot quite a few easterns back home in Illinois but we dont have merriams there! it was a blast.

no, it was with a shotgun. i wanted to shoot one with my bow, but i didnt bring it to school with me and it takes me a about 9 hours to drive home. this guy came in and started beating up my jake...

there are big bucks, but the majority of them are around the mississippi. the public land in IL is pretty bad, there isnt much, and the land there is isn't good hunting at all. but good luck
