Loctite
#11
I use blue locktite and it seems to hold well, yet I can still get it apart easily. I used red one time on a piece on a truck, and I literally never thought I was going to get it apart. After lots of heating, beating, and cutting I finally got it apart. I would never use that on a gun. I almost wonder if the above poster used that by mistake as I've never had a problem removing stuff with the blue on it.
Years ago I remember on the bottle of blue 242 used to say Permanent on .25"or smaller. I haven't seen that in years. I don't know if they changed the formular or what they did.
The only thing red is good for if you know you'll never have to remove it. Once it's there it's there. I will continue to use the blue 242 on my mounts. It's worked for me for many years.
Word of caution. Other thread sealers might be blue in color and be different properties. Loctite blue is #242 and the one I'm speaking of.
I don't know anything about other brands of thread sealers.
