RE: Tough powder question....

D.D.,

RL22 is a great powder for the .270, '06, and 7mm Rem Mag, particularly with the heavier bullets. For the .308 based cases such as the .243 and 7mm-08, I would go with a slightly faster 4350 burn rate powder due to smaller case capacity.

Might as well weigh in with everyone else.

For the cases you have, I would start with H4831, and IMR4350. Wouldn't be a real big deal if you went with H4350 instead of IMR.

Beyond that, again for the cases you have listed, H1000 and IMR4064 would be the next powders to add. The H1000 worked better for me in the 7 Rem Mag, and the 4064 has worked well in several calibers as a very consistent powder - 30.06, 7x57, 7-08. By consistent, I mean the Standard deviation of the velocity was very small. 4064 was never the fastest, but consistency of the powder is very impressive. JMHO.

You'll be able to shoot all summer with IMR4350 and H4831.

RE: Tough powder question....

This is an admirable goal.....many of us have tried that logic and as good as it is.....it just never works out that way.....
I'd recommend that you pick the cartridge you shoot the most and get the powder best suited to that one.....then add another powder later when you can.
