I found a velocity difference once interchanging. It was only like 50-100fps. But I sometimes see that with different lots of Reloader 25. So I wouldn't worry about.

The story goes, I loaded some 270win when I first started loading. Well I put them away and got back out 8 years later and forgot about them. Since that time, I switched to SC. So I could compare.

IMR 4064 and 4895 works in just about everything accurately, though with the 30-06 class case capacity you won't get the maximum amount of velocity with these powders.

W748 is good for the .308 based cases
RL15 is good for .308 based cases and .3006 based cases.
H4350 is good for magnum rifles
IMR4350 is good for all.

So I'd have to say the most versital would be IMR4350

I would have to agree. Some people would even argue for Unique; but if I had to use one powder for everything, my only rifles that would be really unhappy with IMR 4350 would be the .223's.

Here is another vote for the IMR 4350 Powder. Seems to work good in everything.

No difference in the powder! SC stands for short cut,they made it that wasy so it would meter a liittle better.One might try varget as well. vangunsmith

It all boils down to how fast and accurate you want all these rifles to be. There is no perfect powder period. You need to start with at least 3 powders. 4350. 4831 and 4064. You will not believe the difference from rifle to rifle....and OBTW some like H and some like IMR. Good luck and regards, Rick.

I would buy three powders in your case. A container of Rel 15, Varget, IMR 4350. If I had to pick just one and your main gun was the 270, and all you wanted was on powder to start, IMR 4350 would be good, as it would give satisfactory results with your 7.08 and your 30-06 too. (H4831, IMR4831, H1000, Rel 22, Rel 19 will give better external ballistics for your 270, but not neccesarily better accuracy. Buy as many as you can afford and load as many as you can. It just gets better and better.).

When selecting powders I usually follow this method. I check all of my load data sources and compile a list of the three fastest powders from each source. Then I narrow down the list by picking the 2 that are listed the most. I also pay particular attention to the accuracy loads listed in the Nosler and Sierra manuals. For the guns you listed, I4350, I4064, W748, H380 will all give you workable loads. I currently load for 223, 257 Rob, 6.5x55, 307, 30-06, 35 Whelen and my most recent addition a 270WSM so I'm forced to buy some new manuals. I have loads worked up for all with the exception of the 223 with every powder listed. 748 should work well for the 7mm08 and the 243. I4350 for the 270, 06 and 7mag.
