This weekend I got my first deer with a bullet I reloaded. There is just something special about that. It is hard to explain, but I am sure some of you know what I am talking about. I was using my .308 with a 180 grain sierra game king bullet. It hit right where I was aiming and blew the heart to pieces! The deer didn't go but about 5 yards. I love my little Mohawk 308. The deer was a nice 7-point with a 20 1/2" spread. He didn't have alot of mass but he was an older deer. I am very proud of him and the performance out of my bullets.

WTHunter, you have put smiles all over my face.....I thank you.
Hold on to that Mohawk.....it's one fine woods gun and it'll handle plains game to to 250 yards.......I always wish I had bought one.

I know just how you feel. It seem like just the other day(actually 35 years ago) that I shot my first deer with my own reloads. It is a special feeling. Mine was a LH 30-06 BDL Remington and I reloaded it with 150 grain Hornady spire points. I shyot a big doe at about 100 yards and she went down like a rock. I felt like a great African hunter
. You are now in for a lifetime of great sport and you will always sort of look down on factory Ammo. VAP. I wish I had kept one of the two of those I had. A 308 and a 6MM remington. Good little rifles. I quess thats why Remington quit making them. Go figure. They seem to have a hisory of giving up on thier best products. My biggest gripe on them right now is they quit chambering thier own 260 in the BDL with the 24 inch barrel. They are idiots.

Congrats on your deer. I just took a 6-pointer with a small kicker on Sunday with my handloaded 44mag. 200gr. XTP behind 22gr. of 2400 all in a Starline case. 1650fps out my 629 Classic with no signs of pressure.
