I like what Eldequello had to say about this one...looking at the Nosler # 4 manual at home the most accurate load is going in the mid 2900 fps.. that is some formidable load and I have never used it before stoppping at 160 grain partitions for everything including Elk. My brother who I am almost ashamed to say is a one box of cartridges a year hunter uses 160 grain partitions in a Federal factory load that I gave him when he bought his BAR a couple of years back...he kills bucks regularly in our yearly Alabama hunt and they never move off after getting wacked by them...I mean down they go and his distances are the same as what you are mentioning mharris ...

Different guns like different loads I have a Winchester Model 70 in Rem 7mag and have tried all different loads I have found that my best performance comes from a 160 grain hallow point boat tail made by Speer loaded with 58.8 grains of IMR-4350 which is just below max load and I also use a magnum primer because that is a fast burning powder and makes for a good ignition I hunt those Ga deer too and have never had to chase one with that load either, its runs out just a little over 2900 fps and has a lot of kick I love those power lines and this is a good long distance load too
