If you handload you can load a 150 gr spt bullet that is about like a 30-30 because of the pointed bullet . 2100 fps as to 2200fps on the 30-30 . I use to load it a lot but never tried it hunting .All I had were sks's and ak-47's .What are you thinking of hunting with it ?

Well as long as you not stretching the barrel all the time it should work fine .Sierra list a point blank range of 195 yard witha 150 gr handload.thats a max load though .They only list 185 for a 30-30 but the difference is the pointed bullet . Lots of luck

Figure on covering a paper plate at 100 yards with that rifle. Don't go larger than a 6x scope because the rifle is not capable of more than that. But you can ALWAYS count on follow up shots with it. Never tried that round in anything except military style rifles. Ammo is cheap though.

I have a Ruger Mini 30 that I hunt deer with. I just use Wolf ammo, 125 gr HP. Real cheap and good accuracy out to 100 yards. I use a Tasco World Class 3x9 mounted on it and with just cheap Russian Ammo I get 2 to 3 in groups at 100 yards. I've never used it on anything past 100 yards. If you want to put a lot of rounds down range in a hurry, that's the way to go. I've taken my scope off and just use the ghost ring sights from time to time and i still get pretty good accuracy, even out to 100 yards.
