.338 Federal???
Anyone out there been reloading this new cartridge? I purchased a Kimber 84M and started with the 200 gr bullets. So far I am not too impressed with the results. I have used IMR 4895 and 3031. Anyone using some of the newer powders and what success have you experienced?

RE: .338 Federal???
I have 2. One with a ER Shaw replacement barrel on a savage and a tikka. shooting 200 gr speers, (hornadys didn't seem to group quite as good but they would be ok if that's all I had). Using 46.5 of IMR 4895 in both of them. The savage is a 1 1/8" @ 100, sometimes less but that's a strong constant, the tikka if I do my part is sub MOA. Performance has been, a doe at about 40 yards, in the lungs a clean pass threw she went maybe 30 yards. A 9 that was facing me put his head down to sniff something, shot him between the shoulder blades @ 50 yards, DRT never even kicked but then he wouldn't of if I'd been shooting anything else either. Both were shot with the savage, can't explain it but it fits/feels better than the tikka.

RE: .338 Federal???
Just got my encore barrel for it this weekend, and will be interested to see the results of it this fall. 28" Barrel, topped it with a 3.5x10x44 Ziess Conquest. Haven't shot it yet, didnt make it to the range yet.
I purchased 3 boxes of the 200g Fusion's, 1 Box of the 185 grain Barnes X, and 1 box of the 210 grain Partitions. Will see how these perform in next couple weeks.
Will be ordering reloading dies, and couple hundred remington 308 brass in next week or two to work up some hand loads. So will be interested in your results or anyone else willing to share theirs.

there's a write up about the 338 fed in recently, shooting times by lane pearce. He was pushing pills through a ruger mark ll frontier. his best loads went 1.30" moa using barnes 185 grain mrx and varget powder with fed 210 primers. The nosler 210 partition was next with 1.50" using w748 ball powder.
I have a weatherby ultralight in 338-06 that would put those groups to shame.
If things get bad, call a 911 operator.
If things get really bad, call a 1911 operator
