7mm-08 and 168gn Berger VLDs
I have read many posts in other forums about folks using the Berger VLDs for deer hunting. I have a 7mm-08 with a 28in barrel, and was wondering if this cartridge has enough to push the 168 VLD to decent velocities for hunting deer size game. I wonder if the high BC can make up for the slower velocity, and be effective on game out out to 300yds. I'm also looking for load data for this load.
Any help/thoughts??

RE: 7mm-08 and 168gn Berger VLDs
You might be able to get 2625fps ish with a stiff load of R-19. With 2" high at 100yds you'd be 0 at 200 and 8" low at 300yds. That would be fine for deer, but lighter bullets with good BC's would give you just as flat if not flatter trajectory to 300yds. I also wonder if the charge would fill the case too much and risk a COL problem. Those Bergers are LONG! Make sure your twist is close to a 10 as this is what Berger recommends. Hope this helps, Brett

Raptor-just email Berger and they will send you data for your cartridge.
