They have a lot of penetration for an "expanding" bullet. I would save them for Africa personally. Or maybe have a few in your pocket up in Alaska in case a brown bear decides to try to take your caribou away. I shot an elk with one a couple of years ago. 120 gr. .257 out of a fast twenty five caliber wildcat. I think it could have gone through two elk broadside. A customer of mine shot a large mule deer with one and it penetrated end-for-end.
Another customer of mine went to Africa in 2005. As they were preparing for the cape buffalo part of the hunt, the oldprofessional hunterasked him what he was packing for bullets. Mike had solids for his .416 Rem Mag. The guide was pleased - and told him the only bullets he will allow for buff is a solid or a Swift A-Frame. Not a Nosler Partition, not a Barnes X, or even a Fail Safe. Only the Swift A-Frame. I thought that was quite an endorsement.

They're teriffic for Dangerous Game! Are you going to hunt Kodiaks or Polar Bear's?
What are you planning to do with them?
That's your best bet!!

I have always heard they are for dangerous game, but never understood that. But they didn't penetrate a moose I shot. They mushroom out great like a partition, but will keep that shape and not loose its nose like a partition. And from what I have seen won't penetrate as well as a partition because of the mushrooming.

Rebel Hog-
I got the box of A-frames, 2 boxes of core-lokts, and a box of PMC's with GameKings for$70, and the box of A-frames are like $50 a box so I couldn't pass up the deal. I guess I will just save them for Kodiaks or Grizzleys.
Thanks Guys
P.S.
Roskoe: What is your companys name? Do you have a website?

My business is called Roscoe's Custom Pistols. My daughter is working on a website . . . . I'm not too computer literate. I told her to take her time - don't really want to be any busier. A man has got to have a little time for fishing and hunting.

I just used 140gr A-Frames in my 6.5x55 for my first elk. I handload for my CZ-550 Ammerican. They are moving about 2700-2800 fps with 48gr of Reloader 22. The first shot was tight behind the shoulder broadside at 50yds. He started running so I hit him again about three inches behind the first shot at about 40yds and he dropped. Both shots were broadside and they both exited. They also shoot about 1 inch groups in my rifle. Good bullets but to pricey for just deer in my opinion. I'll stay with 140gr Sierra Gamekings for deer and smaller and A-Frames for larger critters. The Sierra's shoot about 3/4" or less when loaded with 48gr Reloader 22 and Federal Gold Medal primers in my rifle.
