Default Different powder for the swede?

Has anyone experimented with Hodgden-Varget or Ramshot-TAC powders in the 6.5x55? These both work great in my 30-06, 7mm-08, and 22-250. There is no data for these in the 6.5 so I would have to start low and slowly work up while watching for pressure signs. I think they could be very accurate if the correct load was found. If anyone has tried I would sure appreciate any information. You can e-mail me at [email protected]. Thanks.

Send Ramshot/Accurate Powders an email. They should be able to get you started with Tac.

I hate to add to the quagmyre. I think you should try N-160. It is suppose to be the berry's for the swede. I have heard this from several top notch reloader's. I have not used it myself. Just passing on what I consider to be good information. Tom.

Try RL-22 if you haven't tried it already.

You should be doing this anyway, even with published data, since all rifles are individuals.......

Hi Will,Reloader 22 is a staple in the 6.5 Swede with 129gr and 140gr Hornady's.In a model 38 Husky I had 42 gr of IMR 4350 with a 160gr Hornady would put bulets in the same hole all day long and penetrate like a bunker-buster. Never recovered a bullet from any animal including several moose reguardless of angle ,stem to stern and you could eat right up to the bulet hole.I now have a Win.70 featherweight in 6.5x55 that thrives on 140gr Hornady's and RE 22.Give it a whirl .........Harold

In the "Ramshot Powders Edition III" the 6.5 x 55 Swede shows data for Big Game, Hunter, and Magnum. Check the site www.RamShot.com Good luck.
