.308 Shooters

RE: .308 Shooters
I have used this bullet extensively in my Shilen 1:12 heavy barrel. I loaded 45.5 of RL 12 and got 2975 out of it. RL 12 is no longer made, so I'm going to have to develop a new load once the keg goes dry. This load would consistenty shoot under 1/2" at 100 yards, and shoot 3" at 500 yards under ideal atmospheric conditions.

40fan, I think you should do more research before choosing your bullet. The Sierra 175 gr matchking will be much easier to get to 1000 yds at supersonic volicity than the 155 gr. Without over stressing your rifle. But to answer your question, the highest velocity I could find with RL15 is 2958fps with a nosler 150 gr bullet, this with 46.0 grs of powder, a 24" lija barrel. You do know this load could be excessive in your gun. The reason Sierra developed the 175 match king was for 1000 yd competition, as it will retain it's volicity better than the 155 or 168 at that distance

RE: .308 Shooters
I went ahead and got some of the 155'ers to try this weekend. Saturday I started at 43.5 and worked up by .3 until I got to 46.2. No signs of too much pressure and from 44.1 on up, I was shooting one ragged hole at a 100 yards. It was a cool day (60-65) with a steady wind.
Today (Sunday) was around 75, so I started back at 45 grains of Reloader 12 and worked back up to 46 by .2. Still no signs of pressure and they all shot great. I think I will stick with 46 and next weekend take out the chronograph and see what the speeds are like.
By the way, the bullets were moly coated.
