Solitary Man----That's a good one too.....Thank God we're able to laugh at some of our more "brainless" moments. Keeps us from totally slipping over the edge.

If you're working up hunting loads, remember that box magazine length will or can affect your OAL. I learned the hard way years ago, when I found out that I was carrying a"single shot" bolt action the first day of deer season, due to the fact I had set the bullets out further than the magazine would permit them to be loaded into. Just something to remember..............

I got a good "no Brainer"
I was bow hunting "back in the day". As I crawled into my stand I noticed a nice buck walking in my direction. I tried to get my bow pulled up to me with out getting busted. I finally got my bow and the buck was in range. I'm pulling an arrow from my quiver with all my attention on the deer. As I push the arrow around the string to set it on the rest and nock it I cut the string with my broadhead. Let me tell you a 70 pound compound bow comes unwound in a hurry. I was sliced from top to bottom.

I don't know about it being all over the internet or not. But I definately done it.
I also "back in the day" shot myself with an arrow.....A friend and I were big time into bows. One day we decided to go squirrel hunting with them. Now after a couple of arrows stuck in the trees I decided that it wasn't smart for us to be shooting our "high dollar" XX75's at those stupid squirrels. I knew my dad had some arrows hanging in the basement that he never used anyway. So I got them, they where made from fiberglass. No kidding, They may have been worth a lot of money because I've never seen any other fiberglass arrows. Anyway.......
Off to the woods we went with our "cheap" arrows. We found a bushy tail up in the fork of a tall oak and I took aim with my 60# Bear compound. I let'er rip and......WAAAAAAAA, OOOOOOOOOH. I look at my hand and i got half and arrow sticking through it. The fiberglass couldn't handle the torque and had snapped and the force of the bow had shoved it through my hand between the thumb and the first finger. Now I know you won't believe me but I had a witness and I swear that everything I said is true.

They still sell fiberglass. Alot of traditional guys shoot them because they need 12gr/pound draw. glad to hear you can still pull a trigger.

longbeard,
I always load my bullets at a length that a bullet blacken with soot will show land marks in the soot, but will not show a bright spot where the lands actually touched the bullet. Or, just touching the lands. I've proved to my own satisfaction to many times to count, that this is the point that usually gives the best accuracy. There have been a few times that this has not been the case, but not very many. Sometimes OAL is determined by length of rifle action or magazine.Or by location of cannelure on a bullet, such as for lever action rifles. I even go to the point of determining the actual length of a chambers neck length. Then I'll trim my case necks .005" short of the max length just to get as much neck length holding a bullet as I can.
