I don't know about it being all over the internet or not. But I definately done it.

I also "back in the day" shot myself with an arrow.....A friend and I were big time into bows. One day we decided to go squirrel hunting with them. Now after a couple of arrows stuck in the trees I decided that it wasn't smart for us to be shooting our "high dollar" XX75's at those stupid squirrels. I knew my dad had some arrows hanging in the basement that he never used anyway. So I got them, they where made from fiberglass. No kidding, They may have been worth a lot of money because I've never seen any other fiberglass arrows. Anyway.......

Off to the woods we went with our "cheap" arrows. We found a bushy tail up in the fork of a tall oak and I took aim with my 60# Bear compound. I let'er rip and......WAAAAAAAA, OOOOOOOOOH. I look at my hand and i got half and arrow sticking through it. The fiberglass couldn't handle the torque and had snapped and the force of the bow had shoved it through my hand between the thumb and the first finger. Now I know you won't believe me but I had a witness and I swear that everything I said is true.
