Default 7 x 30 Waters

Anybody have suggestions for loads for 7x30 Waters. Just got a 14" contender barrel and need a good load for deer and hogs.

I worked up a load for my friends Contender. W-W large rifle primers, 37 gr. H414, and 140 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips. Very accurate and deadly. He's killed several deer with this load.

How about some loads for 120 grain? Anybody help, load data seems to be a little scarce for this round.

I used the 120 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip in my 14" Contenderwith good results. Never tried it on hogs, but for deer it was a good balance of penetration and expansion at the reduced velocities of this caliber. I might be tempted to try a 140 Partition or 120 Barnes X for porkers.

the 7-30 is one under rated cartridge .I'm so impressed with what that thing can do.
i have a encore hand gun in that caliber and have taken many deer with it .and only one deer madeit 20 yd's before it dropped ,most just drop in there tracks.
the load that i am most proud of is 38 gr.of 4320 nosler ballistic tip's and just off the lands. ya its a hot load ,the brass doesn't last long 2 to 3 shots
i have sat at a bench and shot 400 yds and repidly hitting an 8 inch target ,all hitting in the center of the plate.

I'd have to check my log because it has been so long since I loaded for this cartridge. Last time I did I loaded several hundred and I will wait until they are gone to load again. I do know that I used Hornady's Single Shot Pistol bullet in 120 gr and I too have taken a few deer with it.

I have a Contender 14"SS with a Nikon 2-8 scope.
Best load I found is

120 BT
34.5 grs Varget
Federal Case
Federal GM210M primer
COL 2.864"
best 3 shot group at 100 yds .225"
Excessive muzzle flash

120 gr BT
35.0 grs RL15
best 3 shot group at 100 yds .700"

120 gr BT
33.5 grs IMR4895
best 3 shot group at 100 yds .747"

These loads are safe in my Contender, work up carefully!
Hope this helps.
