In my .300 Weatherby, which gives very similar performance to the .300 RUM, I prefer a "premium" type bullet such as the Barnes Triple Shock, Nosler Partition, Northfork and similar type bulletsinstead of the fragile type bullets such as the Ballistic Tip and so forth. One of the bonded bullets like the Nosler Accubond, Swift Sciroccoor Hornady Interbond might be a good choice too. For deer hunting I like a 165 grain bullet.

I have used with much sucess 101 gr of hogdon retumbo, topped off with 150gr barnes boatail.

Do you think a 220 gr bullet could reach 3000 fps? I was just curious cause I got a 180 gr in my RUM going at 3250 and Im 4 gr from "book max"
oh well, i bet it would put a hurtin on him!
