OK, really stupid question. I just found out I need to go to Calgary. I can go anytime, but I need to go sometime in the next 6 months. Is there any license I can buy over the counter and not be drawn for?
I would love to bring my bow w/ and go shoot something
, I don't think I'd be able to bring my rifle. Boss might have a problem w/ me bringing my rifle w/ on a business trip.
If nothing else, I hope you all get a good laugh out of my stupidity

There's nothing stupid about your question. As a non-resident alien you would need either a licensed guide(outfitter) or a Hunter Host (Alberta Resident). Booking through an outfitter is going to cost you $ and the hunter host option requires a lot of paperwork, signed statements, etc. It's not impossible but it does have timelines and requires you to have a resident who is willing to take you hunting (and stay with you) for no financial reward or personal gain.
Birds are a little easier, just buy your non-resident licenses, find permission and your off to the races. The link below is the Alberta hunting regs. The answer to any questions you have should be in there. Good luck.
