The thing is Tango it isnt a canned hunt. The animal isnt cagged in it still has a chance to get away so it is fair gaem, but unfortuntley it is on a farmers land. And of course the farmer is going to get the hunter to pay a fee because it is africa and its a third world country and when they see a rich american come along they know they will pay money to get the proper papers filled out for the harvest of the animal. So i really dont see how its a canned hunt. Especially if your going through a outfitter because they are aware that the punishment for a canned hunt is actually execution, which is the same for poachers so really it isnt a canned hunt if the animal has a fair chance to get away. Also the thing about how the farmer will get him to pay him isnt illegal but all he is really saying is i want money for the inconvienince of having to fill the papers out and allowing you on my land.

I can't believe this thread is still going strong.

It amazes me how many of those that posted here are all for controling and managing our own heards of animals like our white tail deer, elk, ducks, turkey, etc... etc.... We do much of the same research and management as they do in Africa. We trap, net, and drug animals so we can collect the necessary data and monitor the heards general health. We then mark their ears, tatu them in some way, collar them, and ear tag them.

I personally have shot two cow elk that were tagged. One had a collar and ear tag and the other had a radio collar.

We have no need to try and offset the costs of this type of research with our wildlife cause we have enough hunters that pay big bucks all year long in the form of tags, licenses, taxes, donations, etc... etc... that it isn't needed to sell a "green" hunt to a hunter.

Remember that it was only a very short few years back that many of these animals were being poached to extinction. Thanks to people doing innovative things like this these same animals are worth more alive today then thery were worth dead not so long ago.

James, it is aparent that some will never come close to having a clue no matter how many times it is explained to them.

Sorry about the mix up with the white rhino and black rhino. I aint never been accused of having a good memory. [8D]

I for one don't agree with this type of hunt ,I don't believe in hunting anything that I don't plan on eating .
