Are F&G Laws the same in Quebec?
A question for the Canadians. Since Quebec is semi-autonomous, I am curious. Do they follow the same fish and game laws as the rest of Canada. Or, are the regulations and enforcement officers different.
If you are more comfortable answering in French, go ahead.I should be able to understand (knock on wood).

How about the enforcement officials. For example, here in the U.S., we have state officers and federal officers. is that the same in Canada. If so, would federal officers have jurisdiction in Quebec?

Quebec have a provincial police ( like US State police )force as well as local and municipal forces just like most Canadian provinces. Their game wardens are provincial. All game laws are provincial except migratory birds which are federal.

Lanse; Quebec is a province the same as the rest. They have pressed for language and retirement systems that are different other provinces but any province could do the same. Many other provinces are bilingual. If you travel in nord Ontario you will find that out. Quebec is not semi-autonomous. The federal government has full jurisdiction over federal matters in Quebec.

Are the rest of the provinces as short on CO's (Guardian de Chasse) as Quebec is? Prior to opening day you can spot the CO's flying around in their planes, but once the clock starts, they are so stretched, you are unlikely to see any. I know people who have hunted for 20 years and have never seen a CO.

Dan,
My knowledge of Canadahas likelygotten rusty since I was there last 10 years ago. I thought that New Brunswick was the only "officially" bilingual province. I was also under the impression thatQuebec has/had the autonomy tolegislate, or at least exercise, French only in many instances. I spent two weeks in the general area of Quebec City and never saw a road sign orgovernment building sign in English. My oneinteraction withpost office staff in Quebec City had to be conducted in French by necessity. However, I know that there has been controversy over this, so perhaps things have changed since my visit. Nothing to do with hunting, but I am curious.
