Champlain,

I see you've hunted with Ron at Snowshoe Lake a few times. I'm interested in a 2006 Caribou hunt. If you'd be willing to talk about your hunts please e-mail your phone number.

No problem Mark. I'll do it right now. The best time to get me is at night now because I am out on the ice almost every day.

I have been the last 3 years all in the end of October. It was cool tocold, rainy with lots of wind. Invest in a good set of camo rainwear, and a back pack to carry warm cloths. Most of the hunt is spot and stalk and the walking is strenuous so dress light so you don't over heat. I just wore my camo rainwear over light long UW for the walking and stalking. I switched to the warm jacket and pants for the spotting when you are still. The wind is really something and the cloths need to be designed to cut the wind. Here is a pic in 2003 and the temp was around 35 with a 50 MPH wind. I bought better camo rain wear and warm wear the next year because I froze the first year and I am used to cold weather..

The temps were in the 40's-50's F during the day and 30's-40'sF at nite. You won't want to dress too warm because of all the walking. I wore a medium weight jacket and pants. Make sure you have good rain gear.
