Great question, tough call. I'm not sure the price differential is worth it, but I'd likely go with the compact model. All I know is that they are top notch units.

I had the LRF and now have a CRF. Once you use the CRF in the field there won't be a question to ask about the extra money. The CRF is simpley awsome! The CRF is a one hand operation and the LRF is very difficult to operate with one hand. Go to a gun shop and compare the two you'll understand.

Couldnt have said it better myself! i've had them both and CRF is worth the extra money. You can find them cheaper then what you posted.

If you don't mind, where can you find the CRF for lower than $619 shipped?

well, I have the LRF, have ranged deer to 1218 yards with it. ranging game at the fringes of the leica's ability is NEVER, a 1 handed operation, so the ease of 1 handed operation is a moot point if you Need a 1200 yard rangefinder.

The CRF is hands down the best of both worlds if you use it both for archery and rifle.
