Default Scope for .300 WSM

I recently bought a Remington LSS in .300 WSM and installed a lower end Bushnell 3x9x40mm on it. This was the only scope availiable in my area at the time that matched the stainless receiver/barrel--could any of you suggest an outlet or website where I could purchase a high quality scope with more power,in the $200 to $300range, with the silver finish? Thanks, John

Perhaps a Sightron SII Big Sky 3-9 X 42 in silver. They run about $380 @ S.W.F.A. It's a good scope.

I saw that one while going thru the lists of what seem to be the top four or five makes and it would fill the bill, just wish it wasa little less money. I'm probabely going to have to find something in the $200 to close to $300 range due to budget restraints.I do know I want something from Leupold, Sightron, Burris or Nikon. I know for certain I'll not be looking at Tasco-----Thanks for your suggestion-----John

Staying in Sightron, a 3-9 X 42 SII in silver is about $250. Another choice is a Nikon Prostaff 3-9 X 40 in silver for $180.

First of all, thanks, I really appreciate your help! Where are you seeing these at these prices? I'll probabely go ahead and get the Sightron, but on the scope store website it was listed at more than $250. Sounds like a good one and should be more than sufficient for my needs, possible future pig and or antelope hunt.........I would be putting a good scope on a very good rifle..........John

Look for a Bushnell Elite 3200 you can easily get a 3x9 40mm for $180 online if you look around. I think you can find some of the higher magnifications like 4x12 in the $250 range.

Thanks, both of you--I appreciate the info and the sound advice. Iv'e been doing some thinking and realizing that I really don't need two .30 cal big bores means that by selling the CZ 550 30-06, I'll be able to afford a really decent scope for the model 700. The CZ is a beautiful gun and a real shooter, but I just have a thing for the Remington 700's and this LSS is too much gun to have a questionable scope on it. Once again, thanks for your input--------John

Sounds great! I'd much rather have fewer rifles, but the ones I have are top notch (certainly including optics). Good luck.

If it were me I'd keep the CZ and get rid of the Remington, way better quality control control at CZ, set trigger and the 06 ammo is a lot cheaper. But hey to each his own.
