Default Scope advice for 45/70

Friend of mine is looking for some moderately priced optics for a 45/70 brush gun. Probably needs some low power or red dot for fast, close range shooting. This is not a range gun so scope will not be subject to massive amounts of shock/shooting. Any suggestions are appreciated.

On my 45-70, I chose 1.5-5 VariXIII. Its a 100 yard gun for me. And I know the 1.5-5 is perfect for that.

You may also consider a fixed 2 or 4 X. They generally hold up well on higher recoiling firearms too.

Nikon Prostaff 2-7x 32mm. Sells for around $130.00. Very nice scope for the price. Parallax is set at 75 yards which is a good distance for your rifle.

See attached link.
