Default Pentax Gameseeker scopes?

Hey there... Does anyone have any advice on Pentax scopes? Anyone use one, know of one, heard of one, etc..etc..?

See, I am torn between leaving my old Marlin 30-30 as is with the plain open sights. Or, going back to putting a small scope on it with the low profile Weaver base & rings that I still have for it.

Check this out....

http://www.riflescopes.com/products/89706/pentax_4x32_gameseeker_rifle_scope.htm

Pentax has a fixed 4X scope that has a ballistics plex and is only $88 bucks or something like that. I used to have an old Glenfield 4X32 on my Marlin 30-30, but it broke and lost its zero, so I took it all off, and got used to using the plain open sights again.

I guess with the new Hornady LeverEvolution rounds, I am considering going back to a scope on my 30-30. But I don't know... I'm thinking about it.

I like the Pentax Gameseeker 4x32, then again I also like the Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 1.5-4.5 x 32 scope.

Which would you prefer? I love Leupold scopes, but not the price (Major $$$$$ ). A nice Leupold scope would be 2-3 times the cost of my old 30-30!!

a) Pentax Gameseeker 4x32 OR
b) Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 1.5-4.5 x 32.

Thanks for any advice....

I'm not familiar with that particular Bushnell but I'm pretty sure that Burris makes Pentax scopes. If it were me I wouldadd to your list theWeaver K4and theNikon Buckmasterfixed power scope. You could also pick up a used Leupold....with their warranty you would be fine. Here is a link to the Optic Zone and the Weaver K4...by the way, the Optic Zone has some great prices too.

Here is my favorite option though:Buy a nice variable power scope. This would give you the excuse to buy a nice bolt action rifle so you can keep the open sights on the Marlin! Just a thought.

Thanks... That's what I want to do (eventually). I love the ol' 30-30 as is with open sights. But I would love to get a .270 with agreat 3-9 x 42 scope! But I was just thinking about the 30-30 and slapping a scope back on it. But, then again, I love the classic "old school vibe" of carrying it the thick woods with open sights.

I like your way of thinking. Maybe I'll keep the 30-30 as is, and try to convince my wife I need a bigger, more longer range, rifle complete with a scope!

i've got a Pentax on my T/C and love it so far. very clear and has good eye relief. i've only shot 34 rounds through the rifle with it so far and it has performed flawlessly.

The Penatx game seeker is a better scope than the Bushnell Banner scope. The banner is a great scope for cheap but the gameseeker is better. If I am not mistaken, The same optics factory in Japan that makes the Burris scopes, makes the Pentax scopes.
However the Pentaxlightseeker is one of the best midpriced scopes I ever looked through, but it is a shade under 500 bucks.

PS Good choice on a 4X scope for you 30 30. Versatile, idiot proof and cheap.
