Keeping proper score .
I thought this to be a subject after shooting the second leg of the southern triple crown.
To all shooters keeping score you need to punch cards after the score is checked ,and CORRECT!!!!! Use pencil or pen prior to punching don't don't use a puncher to keep score.And if you plan on shooting ten one day or twenty ,and finishing the next day, the cards have to be punched .I noticed at check stations they would let shooters walk off with there cards not punched .Whats up with that,we as shooters know this needs to be done ,if your a noobie make sure your cards are punched .If you go home after twenty targets with cards not punched at each check station or where ever you finsh the day you need disqualified.
As for scoreing goes make sure both score keepers are present at pulling of arrows .Keep cards up dated checking that they both have same score marked .I prefer to keep cards checked at the end of every ten targets.
Score keeping needs practiced just as shooting does ,nobody wants there score to be wrong.

Hey Robbyhood, tell me about this proper time to punch the card. I'm new to the IBO and can't seem to find it in the rules when or even if the cards have to be punched. It says something about the shooter being responsible for accuracy and any changes have to be circled and initialed by the score keepers and signed and completed at the end of each range before continuing on to the next one. I can't find any mention of punching. I'm one who did purchase and punch to keep score(nobody mentioned anything the entire shoot) I didn't even make any mistakes and punch in the wrong spot(surprise). I thought this was the proper way and worked good as the cards are kinda hard to write on with the coating they have on them. I hope yall can forgive us folks down here. Maybe you could get it put into the rules so next time more of us will know.

Mr10ss you are actually doing it right. It is something that has been overlooked as long as it was done when cards were turned in but at nationals and the world the range officals will be reminding shooters that it is to be done while keeping score on the range.

When I keep score in the national level shoots, I do it with a pen, pencils do not work so good on those cards sometimes. When mistakes are found, you correct it and initial it. When everyone's happy, you use the punch and punch where the score is written, its very fast to do.

What boggles my mind is how often people get the simple math wrong.

Mr10ss, I'm with you and ej on this one. Keep score on the range with the punch and if a mistake is made put an X through the wrong punch, have the shooter initial it, and punch the correct score.

Continue to punch your cards as the arrows are scored and if a mistake is made according to rule #2 you are to CIRCLE the mistake and initial it.

my cards are easy to add up, multiply the number of targets shot times 5....20X5=100 easy......
as for the punching, i have seen it done many ways. i am a puncher, and if i make a mistake i initial and circle. i agree that if the cards are not punched by the time they get to the scorers table they need to be. if the clubs overlook it, the door is open to mischief.
