bjcrawfo I couldn't agree with you more!!!
The Triple Crown was no different with the exception of the clouds.
We had the rain, mud, rough walking, and being call off the ranges at Bedford and Nelsonville (which I am glad they do) the last 2 years.
I guess the IBO is going to have to watch the weather a little closer this year
, Heck lets have it in the Carolina's next year. Then we can complain about the hurricanes!
What I am saying is that you can't do a darn thing about the weather!!!
By contract with Snowshoe I think the IBO has 1 more year .I am sure if anyone has a location that will put up appox. 10,000 people with 8-10 20 target ranges I'm sure Ken and the BOD would be more than interested.JMO
I personally would like the thank the IBO for putting the extra day in this year and for doing a heck of a job at the Triple Crown and the Worlds!!

Personally I love snowshoe. I have had a great time there the last 3 years. This year we had 2 great days to shoot. The backup day worked like a charm. I guess some people wont be happy till the IBO rents out a flat field somewhere in the desert. Oh wait it would be too HOT to shoot then... Maybe a indoor shoot. Oops we have that already...

After attendending 5 years on the the Mountain I will keep my opinions to myself and pass any suggestions or criticism on directly to the BOD through Ken or the other people whoses job it is to pass on my thoughts and opinions.
Finding a new locations is not an easy job and I'm sure that when the time is right this will be done and the only help that the BOD will have will be these messages and many others from State Reps etc.
An effort is being made to resolve as many problems as possible I'm sure and when a new location is choosen for what ever reason the past six years at Snowshoe will have been a learning expierence for everyone involved.
One thing that I would like to see is some long range plans that include a permanent home for the IBO and even a permanent site for the worlds close by or on the same property. When this organization started I'm sure that they never thought that the game would become this big and I don't think that anyone knows how big it can be with proper planning and foresight. Helping to save bowhunting is very important and I'm sure that having a game that promotes hunting, friendship, good sportsmanship etc has generated much more positive feelings among archers in the past and will do the same in the future if the Average archer can afford it.
Let us start looking further than next year and try to build a dream that everyone can grab onto. I would be willing to pay double my dues each year with the right planning for a permanent type organization that will show me that money will benefit a archer organization more than any other commercial organization.
Many people read these threads that may be forming a first opinion so lets try to put our best foot forward.

i too had a great time. got to see old friends, have a few laughs, and enjoy a great place to shoot. i, like everyone else was a little bummed by the weather break we too on friday, but thats the breaks. ken should have done a little more planning scheduling the hurricane.
hats off the the ibo staff. thank you for all the hard work in providing me a place and venue to shoot. your hard work and dedication to our sport is unparalleled. all i have to do is show up and shoot while you and your staff work countless hours getting ranges together, shooting times, transportation, practice ranges, bowhunter defense ranges, future bowhunter shoots, best of the best, and the sunday shoot down.
my only complaint this year is a result on my own inability to read.....the fellow that put the orange sticker door prize on my truck was completely justified....how could i miss 7 no parking signs......maybe if thebreeze and his crew stay at home next year i will have a place to park

Like bjcrawfo, I too made this my first trip to Snowshoe. We got to shoot together with three great shooters from the northern part of the country and man were they good! Bobby shot a pretty good round and I think I brought up the rear in our group scorewise. I too at first was angry about the fog on Friday, especially when it lifted about lunchtime. I wanted to go shoot right then so that I could make the trip back home(14 hour drive). My good friend Jeremy Blackmon stopped me and after talking with him I got a better understanding of the situation.
There was no way that you could start all of the shooters at noon and have them safely off of the range before dark. The weather no matter where you host the shoot will always be a problem. The only thing that I would change would be to go one step further on the weather day. Have the shoot on Wednesday and Thursday with the finals on Friday. This way if we do have to go into Saturday we can still make the trip home on Sunday. Not many people can have an extra vacation day to schedule for the following Monday so making the shoot back up one day would really help out a lot with those of us that have to travel a great distance. I will agree also with the posts her that Snowshoe is a great place to have any event. I had a great time and hope that Ken and the BOD will look at moving the shoot back one more day to give us more time to enjoy the area surrounding Snowshoe. Most vacations run from weekend to weekend and by moving the day back to Wednesday and Thursday you would give us an extra day for travel home, time to tour the surrounding area or an extra rain day if needed. Then we would still have Saturday evening/ Sunday for the trip home. I think that perhaps some of the vendors or someone should come up with some novelty type shoots to keep us occupied during non shooting time. Perhaps some of the local archery shops or civic organizations would like to put some on to raise money. The $100,000 shootout area was filled with shooters paying to shoot for a chance at some big money and this could definitely be expanded upon. Many of our club shoots down here in Alabama have novelty shoots for fun. One club has a tic tac toe board whereby the shooter must bust a balloon to claim a square. The rest of the game goes pretty much like tic tac toe rules. Long distance shoots and many other ideas could be explored to keep us entertained between shooting times.
Keith, you always come up with some great posts on here as well as do many others, what ideas do all of you have to make it more fun and entertaining for us?

I love SnowShoe and the terrian its held on. But I live in WV and the weather and the steep slopes are normal conditions for me. Iam a very easy going and I can put up with a lot of crap in order to do the sport I love. But for the last two years I have taken my wife and two daughters to the worlds with me. My wife dosent shoot but we both like to see our children have a good time at the future bowhunters shoot. But for the last two years we havent been able to do that because the kids end up leaving the shoot in tears because they dont understand why they didnt get called for a prize they are two and five and its hard to make them understand at that age. The future bowhunters shoot is supposed to be non conpettative but when you take 107 score cards and draw 50 to 60 kids names out and the rest dont get a prize it becomes compettative. Also several months ago I talked to BowPro on this forum and in person at Erie and asked if their could be some 10yd practice buts set up for the kids at snowshoe. I was very disapointed to see their wasent anything for my kids to shoot at snowshoe. But what I was really upset about was their was 107 kids that signed up at $10.00 a peice and their wasent enough ( donated ) prizes for all the kids. Their are people that work hard at raising money to get prizes for these shoots and about a year ago I contacted the IBO and asked what I could do to help raise money to get prizes for the kids at the worlds. I had the company I work for and the union I belong to willing to give money to this shoot. I was told by a lady at the Ibo and I quote ( I DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR REASONS ARE FOR WANTING TO DO THIS BUT THEIR ARE OTHER FUTURE BOWHUNTERS SHOOTS BESIDES SNOWSHOE.) After that remark I got mad and deceided it wasent worth it. I would just like to know where the money goes 107 at $10.00 each =$1070 just for one shoot and the prizes are donated. My name is Chris Callison and I may be totaly wrong here maybe their is a reason this money cant be used for prizes for the kids and Iam not to proud to admit if Iam wrong. But just like any parent if you feel your kids are being done wrong you tend to get very angry very fast.

Sounds like nothing has changed ! Those that love Snowshoe still love it and those that hate it still hate it ! I tried it, shot well, but will not be back. I preferred the NY site. The only change I saw made this year was the extra day added cost to the trip and demanded missing another days work.

bjcrawfo,
So ya shoot ASA all the time do ya??? Here is a post by you, "Crawford", [email protected], on the ASA forum:
Ok next year will be my first year shooting in ASA events. Which class should I choose? Let me give yall a little background.. This past year was my year shooting competitive archery.. I won the IBO state championship in hunter class, and finished 26th at snowshoe, in the hunter class. I was talking to another guy that shoots all the pro-ams and he advised me to shoot the novice class. He said I should be able to run away with that class. I dont like to look for the easy way out.... What to do yall think? Yes I am a very competitive and yes I take this sport very serious.....
Now, now! No name calling. That is reserved just to call me names. ken
