Their is a lot of talk about speed limits and points systems for the HC.These are all some ideas about getting the top scores in the HC to move to another class.I think the only way to get people move is a point system. You could take the top 10 scores for the 03 triple crown in the HC.Get and average of those 10 and if the number is 1254 for example. If your score is 1254 or higher in the 04 triple crown you move out of the HC in 2005.The IBO could let everyone that singed up in the HC at Nelsonville vote on this and if the majority wanted this it could be put into effect after the world championships. The best part about this is the members would be voting this in or out and it wouldnt be the IBO making the decesion. If a person liked or disliked the outcome of the vote they could either thank or not thank the guys they are shooting with.I think this would be a good move for the Hunter Class and for the IBO to let the Hunter Class decide for themselves how they want this issue to turn out.But Iam just 1 vote and this is my opinion it may not be the majority.I would like to hear some input on this idea.

robinhood 11X, you are right but this has been the rule and the hunter class is out of hand, to the point it is becoming an issue to discuss by everyone in the class. the 2 win rule is not enough, changes do need to be brought forth. i agree with bent shaft, seems like a fair way to do things with a point system and the hunter class voting on it is an excellent idea. that way the voice of the people that this topic affects is heard. this i feel is not an issue that needs to be put off and action not taken, just talking about it does not cure the problem. hopefully the ibo will take inconsideration these ideas and let the shooters it affects decide if change is needed. like stated above i am only 1 vote with 1 opinion.

robinhood11x,hello what i am worried about most is that the hunter class shooters should be the ones to choose if change is needed, i see that you shoot in mbr, that is great hopefully one day i will get good enough to move up to that class. i am not trying to say that your opinion does not matter but i feel that the people shooting in hunter class have a valid argument.

Here are a couple of ideas to be kicked around for the HC.
1. Create a Senior Hunter Class
2. Any shooter winning HC in any of the SOY shoots should be required to move to another class the following year.
3. Do away with the 11 ring, if not for all classes at least the HC

The idea of making a beginers class has already been done. Thats what the hunter class is. The hunter class was made to get people into this sport. Before the hunter class a guy with a hunting set up would have to shoot against a guy with and open class set up. The 11 ring I like it gives me the chance to make up and 8 or two. The 11 ring change was voted on at nelsonville the year it was changed and the majority of the shooters liked it. If the IBO started another beginers class some of the guys in the top 20 in the hunter class would go to that class and then their would a problem in two classes. I have thought about this problem that I have with the hunter class scores and I have looked at my own scores. I can shoot up on most 3d courses around my home. I am now shooting up in the IBO shoots. My scores arent high enough to win but they are higher then what I think a beginer would shoot. So no matter what if anything is done with the hunter class I will be going to MBR in 2005. I think every one that is shooting up in the hunter class should ask themselves if it is time to move on.

Let me ask a couple of questions to see if there are any new answers. This discussion has been going on since the class was started.
1. Are all the people in the class there because they think that they can win the class?
2. Are the scores higher on average in the hunter class than in the other classes?
3. If a few people in the class dominate should we legislate them out of the competition or try to improve our own shooting and try to be a leader.
4. Could we start a new class which would be for trophy shooters and people that are only interested in testing the archery game.
5. Raise the shooting fee for hunter class to the same level as all other competitive classes.
If a class has the largest numbers and is still growing does that mean that all the new people in the class are jumping in just because they know they can win or are they just trying to shoot a distance that agrees more with their self assessment of their skills. A good score is good enough for some people.
Would a lower entry fee have any influence on what class people choose.
Lots of luck. I don't now or have I ever shot Hunter class. I keep getting my butt kicked in MCBH but there is more to shooting than finishing first.

Hey Guys, I've been thinking alot about this question. Hunter Class is not a beginners class. If you look at the stated charter of the IBO, we've lost our direction for promoting, fostering and encouraging new bowhunters. I think that we need to do alot of brainstorming together and find a solution that works for all from the beginner to the seasoned professional. It is not fair to compete a beginner against seasoned professionals, and this is obviously happening in our "beginner" class. I think that we need to split off a non-competitive class (low entry fee, over 400 see ya up the ladder, no membership required) a "Short range" Hunter 3-D class and a Master "Short range" Hunter 3-D class for the 400ish plus group. I think some version of the "short range" connotation to the class definition will move the egotists onward. You can say what you want but nobody will keep coming back for a beating' and new members are what will make us stronger. I have more ideas, but I wanted to throw this initial thought out for comment.
